A seat woven with grass type materials are very comfortable, durable and stylish. At Caning Canada we offer fibre rush material to repair these types of seats. The fibre rush material comes in light brown and a darker brown called kraft brown. The two different colours also come in different sizes or gauges.

Fibre rush is a very durable one ply, twisted paper made to resemble real twisted bull rushes. Paper fibre or "fiber reed" was introduced when China had an embargo on rattan reed exportation. Paper fibre became the substitute for natural rattan reed. Material is wrapped around the four dowels framing the square of a seat creating four triangles.

Very often seats woven with different grasses, seagrass, rush or fibre rush can be remove from the chair frame. These seats can then be mailed to Caning Canada to have the material replaced with the fibre rush of your choice. Please visit my website to find out how to ship the seats for weaving repair.

Most dining room chair seats or backs are removed by removing 4 screws, which screw up through a bottom or side of the frame and into the seat or back frame. Chairs seats and backs can then be sent by Canada Post for weaving and returned collect. Please contact me for details.

How do I clean Fibre Rush Chairs

On a regular basis use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to clean dirt and dust from the fibre rush seat. Use the brush attachment gently to clean in between the strands of fibre rush.

Try to clean built up dirt by scratching the dirt from the surface carefully not to damage the fibre rush material.

Never use water to clean fibre rush as it is a made from twisted paper.

Thank you have an awesome day,
