A Year of Memorable Milestones
In 2024, Caning Canada celebrated several firsts, expanding our reach and sharing our furniture weaving expertise with communities nationwide:
• Vancouver Island Meetups: We hosted our first meet-up in Victoria, connecting with vintage lovers thanks to @CookStreetVintage. Additional gatherings in Nanaimo and Tofino’s @MiddleBeachLodge, supported by @prayformodern, allowed us to offer Danish cord weaving services to new clients.
• Calgary Events: @bexvintage and @mansfieldvintage hosted vibrant meetups, with support from @louchemilieu, @murphrys.midcentury, and @brassybeehive, showcasing our restored chairs.

• Winnipeg and Ottawa Adventures: We connected with @epocahaus in Winnipeg and debuted at Ottawa’s @613flea market, where we sold restored chairs and offered weaving services. A highlight was our appearance on CTV Morning Live, showcasing our Danish cord and cane weaving expertise.

• Vancouver Highlights: Returning to Vancouver, we participated in @vancouverfleamarket with support from @mcmhome and @bydesign. An interview with @bychrischeung for The Tyee highlighted our commitment to sustainable furniture restoration.
We also revamped our website to make it easier for you to explore our services and book projects, ensuring a seamless experience.
Looking Ahead: 2025 & 2026 Weaving Projects and Meet-Ups
We’re thrilled to announce our 2025 and 2026 plans to bring vintage furniture weaving services to more Canadian communities. Join us at these upcoming events to see our restored pieces and book your project:
• British Columbia Winter Tour: We returned to Fort Langley in November and will offer our services until mid-April 2026, with meet-ups in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Comox Valley, Kamloops, and Kelowna via Merritt to serve the Okanagan, including Penticton, Vernon, Nanaimo, Vancouver and Victoria., to pick up and deliver weaving projects.
• Kelowna Meet-Up (Spring 2026): We’re expanding to the Okanagan via Merritt, offering Danish cord weaving and other restoration services.
• Alberta Summer Tour: We’ll return in the Spring of 2026 to Cochrane, with meet-ups in Edmonton, Lethbridge, and Red Deer to pick up and deliver weaving projects.
• We may return to Ontario the summer of 2026 and would stop in Regina and Winnipeg on our way to Toronto and Ottawa with a possible meet in Kingston and Montreal (Summer 2026).
Our Weaving Truck Meetup Process
Contact Caning Canada to obtain an estimate for restoring your weaving project. Please send us photos of the full piece, the top of the piece, and the underside of the piece. Let us know your location.
We'll provide you with a details estimate.
Let us know that you want to be added to our booking list.
Once we have enough projects booked, we'll organize a meetup to pick up weaving projects. We'll provide a central meet-up location and time, along with an estimated return date based on the projects we pick up.
Prepare your project for the meet by removing the surface to be woven if possible, removing any cushions, and labelling your piece with some painter's tape with your name and phone number.
We'll physically look at your pieces with you to review the project details, show you material samples, confirm the estimate, and advise on our estimated return date.
Payment for your project is made when we return with your beautifully restored weaving project.
Can’t make it to a meet-up? No problem! If you purchase a restored chair from our shop, we’ll deliver it to any of our meet-up locations for your convenience.
